Brandon
I’m Brandon, Urban Green Dot’s engineer and designer. I’m responsible for coming up with smart and efficient systems for the farm by incorporating new technologies. What you see behind me now are some of the systems that we’ve developed!

Over the years, I developed a strong interest in gardening and the grow-your-own-food concept. My internships at Agri-Tech companies in Singapore and China also led me to realize that I want to start my own vertical farm as I feel that this is an avenue through which I can contribute back to society. My faith has also strengthened my confidence that farming is what I should be doing.

I love rockets the most! Their leaves have a very peculiar shape and I enjoy eating them with pasta. They also have a peppery after taste that makes it a ‘healthier choice’ afternoon snack to munch on 😋

I really hope that every Singaporean will try growing their own food at home because the joy you get from the experience is unexplainable! My life goal is to design a system that everyone will be able to use to grow their own vegetables easily.
Ryota
I’m Ryota, Urban Green Dot’s business, marketing, and sustainability lead. I work on the farm’s business model as well as its social media content and outreach efforts. I also proactively research on ways to make food and farming more sustainable 🌍

Spending time at my grandmother’s place in the suburbs of Japan, I saw how farms formed an integral part of society. People naturally interacted more with nature and developed an attachment towards their land. In contrast, as cities become increasingly urbanized, we have fewer opportunities for meaningful engagements with nature. I joined this venture because I believe that farming can be one avenue to help fill up this emerging gap.

Definitely the baby spinach! They are so versatile and taste amazing in salads or as a cooked dish. Most importantly, they packed with essential vitamins and nutrients 💪🏼

With hydroponics, home farming can be made simple and fun — even in land-scarce Singapore. Together with the Urban Green Dot team, I hope to do what I can to make Singapore food secure.
